FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Announcing The Kaiju Papers Literary Magazine: A Monthly Miniature Magazine featuring the monstrous and the hopeful

BROOKLYN, NY & INDIANAPOLIS, IN: The Kaiju Papers are excited to announce the opening of The Kaiju Papers Literary Magazine. The inaugural edition of TKP’s Literary Magazine will be available on Friday, July 31, 02026.

The Kaiju Papers Literary Magazine aims to explore how humanity might build better futures from our adventures in kaiju media and our lived sensations of monsterhood. We publish short fiction, creative nonfiction, poetry, and more, with a focus on telling both kaiju-centric and kaiju-adjacent stories. We envision The Kaiju Papers Magazine as a place to lift one another up as creators, to dream up (and build!) inclusive futures for everyone, and especially to celebrate the monstrous.

Like our work throughout the rest of Mission Kaiju_Love_Care_Futures_02026, the Kaiju Papers Literary Magazine is an antifascist publication.

The Kaiju Papers’ Editor-in-Chief and Spokeswoman is none other than renowned Heisei-era Kaiju scholar, Doctor Professor Haysay. The magazine will be published digitally at the end of each month. Members of the public may view inclusion criteria here. If their work meets this criteria, members of the public may submit their creative fiction, autobiographical non-fiction, and poetry via this submission form.

Pieces must explore themes of monsters, monsterhood, and building better futures. We encourage contributors to consider the Kaiju Papers core research question: “What might our shared futures look and feel like if humanity were to implement lessons from Kaiju about love, anti-fascism, the world, and ourselves?” While we are not seeking to build a mythical utopia, we are seeking to build better futures, which means we will not focus on dystopia—we have dystopia at home.

We will accept submissions on a rolling basis. Doctor Professor Haysay, Director Stevens, and Deputy Director Vera Rowen will make decisions about publishing content together.

Members of the public can access more information about The Kaiju Papers Literary Magazine here. Beginning July 31, 02026, the linked page will house the current edition of the Magazine.

At this point in time, this effort—like much of the rest of our work—is unfunded. If members of the public are interested in exploring sponsorships of The Kaiju Papers Literary Magazine, please reach out to the team at thekaijupapers@gmail.com
