ABOUT THE KAIJU PAPERS LITERARY MAGAZINE
The Kaiju Papers Literary Magazine—a monthly digital mini-magazine—aims to explore how humanity might build better futures from our adventures in kaiju media and our lived sensations of monsterhood. We publish short fiction, creative nonfiction, poetry, and more, with a focus on telling both kaiju-centric and kaiju-adjacent stories.
We envision The Kaiju Papers Magazine as a place to lift one another up as creators, to dream up (and build!) inclusive futures for everyone, and especially as a place to celebrate the monstrous. Like our work throughout the rest of Mission Kaiju_Love_Care_Futures_02026, the Kaiju Papers Literary Magazine is an entirely antifascist publication.
The Kaiju Papers Magazine is helmed by Doctor Professor Haysay, a Heisei-era tokusatsu fanatic and literary scholar of all things monstrous. Born in the wilderness of Missouri and subsequently raised by coyotes, Dr. Professor Haysay is a passionate advocate for creative writing as a means to explore monstrous identities and brighter communal futures.

Fiction Guidelines:
- Short stories
- Chapters of novellas/novels
- Poetry
- Varying genre and themes, but must incorporate these core pieces: monsters, monsterhood, liberation, and collective action.
Nonfiction Guidelines:
- Short biographies
- Self-narratives
- Pathographies
- Memoirs
- Any non-fiction writing about yourself and your relationship to kaiju and monsterhood (especially if such relationships allowed for self-discovery and liberation!)

A note on resources: The Kaiju Papers Literary Magazine is entirely volunteer-run and unfunded. We cannot compensate contributors, so please keep this in mind when considering your capacity. That said, we are open to exploring sponsorships so that we can compensate contributors and explore a print edition of the magazine!
