THE KAIJU PAPERS IN THE MEDIA
Today is Dr. Tex's birthday, and he is nowhere to be found. In lieu of a Field Report, we offer a few short updates and links to our comrades' writings to which we hope you will click through.
Today is Dr. Tex's birthday, and he is nowhere to be found. We cannot build better futures without rest, and we are respecting Tex's space. This dispatch was dictated to a junior researcher at the Field Office by Chief of Mission Dudley Cramblin, who is a dog and cannot type (well). Please forgive any typos or inconsistency of voice.
In lieu of a Field Report, we offer a few short updates and links to our comrades' writings to which we hope you will click through. PLEASE, DO NOT FRET: The Special Edition Kaiju Brooklyn Field Report is coming! It has been pushed to next week.
A FEW UPDATES:
KAIJU BROOKLYN:
Dr. Tex had a blast attending Kaiju Brooklyn. He will share his reflections in next week's Field Report—he asked fellow attendees, "What do you think Kaiju can teach us about building better futures?" and he's told us that the answers folks shared were hopeful, heartfelt, and loving.
Dr. Tex had the honor of meeting the big man himself, built and cosplayed by none other than Sean Sumagaysay of Project Nautilus Cosplay. Dr. Tex could not be cool about this—he was completely starstruck.

Sean allowed—even encouraged!—Dr. Tex to engage with the suit!
Tex also made some new friends and handed out zines, which were a big hit! The Field Office has run out of physical copies, but we will print more when and if members of the public order their own copies.
EGG IN BOSTON
Egg just returned from a trip to Boston, MA, where he was tasked with finding Boston-based Kaiju. He got off to a slow start, but he did spot some on his first day there:
Then—as time was running out—Egg arranged to be smuggled into the Grantmakers for Effective Organizations National Conference, where they were hosting a Kaiju meet-and-greet. To protect Egg's accomplices' identities, we will not reveal their names, but we thank them for risking their reputation on behalf of Mission Kaiju_Love_Care_Futures_02026.
Below we present Egg's findings:

Egg was not harmed (badly) during his Kaiju encounter.
We thank Egg and his smuggler for their service.

Kaiju United Visits Kaiju Brooklyn IV: In Unity, There is Strength, Jacob Lyngle
Kaiju United is a media and news outlet dedicated to the world of Kaiju. Their mission is to foster a positive and inclusive environment for all Kaiju fans, whilst being the permiere destination for studios and brands to get the word out about their projects. And boy, do they deliver on that mission!
Our team has had the pleasure of getting to know Jacob Lyngle and the rest of the Kaiju United team, and we cannot thank them enough for their mentorship as we continue to explore the Kaiju fandom and universe(s).
Jacob offers a beautiful recap of Kaiju Brooklyn, and we are so grateful for his shout-out to Dr. Tex and our work here at The Kaiju Papers. We are also grateful for Dr. Tex's apparent good behavior—it seems he did not embarrass us.
Of Tex and The Kaiju Papers, Jacob says:
Last, but most certainly not least, was getting to meet one of my newest friends and a relative newcomer to the kaiju scene that will undoubtedly be doing incredible things for our community and the broader conversation behind these films. Dr. Tex Collins, the Principal Investigator at The Kaiju Papers, made their first ever kaiju convention appearance on Saturday to check out the happenings. It was great to introduce Dr. Tex to everyone that I knew, with many of them giving incredibly moving and insightful answers to the question: “What can kaiju teach us about achieving a better future?” It is a stark reminder that these films are incredibly powerful. Godzilla films can teach us all how to become better humans through the lenses of tragedy, collaboration, and most importantly, healing. The films showcase the indomitable human spirit, whether you’re trying to survive the terrors of life, or are wanting to feel the strength of an unstoppable, angry creature that won’t back down, no matter what. TKP gets it, while also making their field reports incredibly funny, deeply thought-provoking, and educational for both casual fans and seasoned kaiju enthusiasts alike. The Kaiju Papers was such a wonderful new introduction the past few months, and I am very much looking forward to future collaboration with them. - Jacob Lyngle, Kaiju United
To read that we here at TKP "get it" from a lifelong Kaiju fan is the vote of confidence we here at The Kaiju Papers needed to know that we are—as some members of the public have suggested—"on to something."

Here There Be Monsters, Part Two: Rise of the Daikaujucene and Cosmovisions of Love, Frank Spencer
Frank Spencer, Co-Founder and Creative Director of TFSX (The Futures School Experience) just published this loving and curious exploration of Daikaiju as cosmovisions of love—and it's dedicated to our work here at The Kaiju Papers! (Another thing Dr. Tex cannot manage to be cool about. He is a lot of things, but nonchalant is not one of them.)
To say this is an honor is an understatement—drawing on his extensive futures and foresight experience and his own love of monsters, Frank has expanded our understanding of the power of our research question, “What might the future(s) be like if humankind were to implement lessons from Kaiju about love, anti-fascism, the world, and ourselves?”
In this piece, Frank weaves together the work of The Kaiju Papers, philosophers and thinkers such as Bayo Akomolafe and Ariel Salleh, and his own expertise and love of the future(s). This is a Big Deal for us at The Kaiju Papers—these thinkers have been inspiring and stretching out understanding of ourselves and the future(s) since well before The Kaiju Papers was created.
From Frank:
Unlike the hyper-objects that attempt to suppress, control, or eliminate these daikaiju through their over-whelming nihilism, the cosmovisions of ancestralism, pluriversality, eco-mythic narratives, imaginal fields, and holoptic futures invite us into a monstrously “diverse coherence” that re-join us into the life’s transformational directionality. As [Dr. Tex Collins] has said in the first edition of The Kaiju Papers Zine, “Are we not all strange beasts, figuring out how to be alive for the first time?” Indeed, we are! We are the conduits, the hosts, the avatars, and the incarnations of these daikaiju, and as such we invite these massive, strange futures to co-create worlds of evolutionary love. - Frank Spencer, TSFX
We are incredibly grateful to Frank for expanding and stretching our understanding of this world and these futures we continue to build.

We are grateful to our friends, new and old, for their support of our work here at The Kaiju Papers. We look forward to what this project might become with continued collaboration, expansion, and friendship.
